Ronaldo Praises Saudi League Over MLS After Messi’s Move to Inter Miami
Just a day after Lionel Messi completed his highly anticipated move to Inter Miami, Cristiano Ronaldo, the Portuguese football superstar, said that the Saudi Arabian soccer league is better than MLS.
Messi left Paris Saint-Germain for the US after his contract expired, despite reports that a Saudi club had offered him a huge contract.
Ronaldo confidently stated, “The Saudi league is better than MLS,” after Al Nassr’s 5-0 pre-season friendly loss to Celta Vigo, according to Reuters.
He added, “Now all the players are coming here… Saudi Arabia will attract more top players next year.”
After leaving Manchester United, Ronaldo signed a two-and-a-half-year contract with Al Nassr in December, reportedly worth over 200 million euros ($220.16 million).
The 38-year-old welcomed new Saudi Arabian league players last month.
Since then, top footballers like Karim Benzema, N’Golo Kante, Kalidou Koulibaly, Edouard Mendy, and Roberto Firmino have joined the SPL.
Ronaldo added that he won’t play in Europe again because he thinks the leagues have declined.
“I’ll never play in Europe again. “I’m 38,” Ronaldo told ESPN.
“European football has lost quality,” he added. The only good one is the Premier League. They lead all leagues.”
Ronaldo has scored 14 goals in 16 games since joining. Al Nassr finished second in the SPL, behind Al Ittihad, despite his stellar play.
Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami debut has captivated football fans. Inter Miami CF’s “The Unveil” at Fort Lauderdale’s DRV PNK Stadium introduced the legendary Argentine forward. Fans and media celebrated his MLS debut, a milestone for US soccer.
Ronaldo’s praise for the Saudi league adds to the intrigue surrounding Messi’s move to Inter Miami. Fans are eager to see how two football legends fare in their new leagues.
As the Saudi Pro League attracts top talent and gains international recognition, it is unclear how it will affect global soccer and other major leagues like MLS and the Premier League.
Football fans are privileged to witness these historic moments and the sport’s evolution. Ronaldo and Messi are leading soccer into a new era of surprises and possibilities.
