Malik Jackson Announces Retirement from the NFL: A Reflection on a Super Bowl Champion’s Career

Malik Jackson, a Super Bowl champion, ended his 10-year NFL career. The news was revealed by the former Jaguars defensive tackle on “Good Morning Football” on NFL Network.

Jackson told the interviewer, “I’m done.” He was content with his retirement after appearing on the show as a free agent the day before. “I appreciated the free agency tag,” he said, “but I was like, ‘Nah. I’m on the couch. I’m happy home.”

“That was the goal,” Jackson reflected on his career. I wanted 10–12 years. I did OK for myself. I did enough. I need to go home and live life with my daughter.”

In the 2012 NFL Draft, the Denver Broncos selected Tennessee’s Malik Jackson in the fifth round. He helped Denver win Super Bowl 50 in 2015 in his first four seasons. He scored on a Cam Newton strip-sack in the first quarter.

Jackson had 14.5 sacks and 44 quarterback hits in Denver. Free agent, he joined the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Malik Jackson retires from the NFL to spend time with his daughter and start a new chapter.
